Masking Tape

Masking tape is a removable type of adhesive and was originally designed to provide temporary protection to surfaces during spray painting in the auto industry. The idea was that you could ‘mask’ off one area whilst painting another so that the colours didn’t cross. Masking tape can also be used around the home and workplace in many ways:

• Painting – whilst you are painting surfaces you can create a clear definition between the areas by masking off sections with masking tape. This will stop paint from getting on other surfaces such as windows when you are painting the sills.
• Packages – masking tape is designed to be temporary but several types (black masking tape for example) are strong enough to be used to seal small packages ready for transportation.
•  Decorations – because masking tape can be removed easily it is useful for hanging up temporary decorations as it will not damage the surface underneath.
